ELTHAM TRAGEDY.
THE INQUEST ON MRS. OWEN. ONLY FORMAL EVIDENCE. The inquest concerning the death of Mrs. W. P. Owen, a victim of the terrible double tragedy which occurred at Eltham on Friday morning, was opened before the coroner (Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M.) on Saturday. Mrs. Owen died on Friday evening, her husband having been found dead that morning. After formal evidence of identificati<> D had been given by George Washington (Tayler, father of the deceased, the inquest was adjourned sine die. At a meeting of the executive committee of the combined bands* queen carnival at Eltham on Friday night, it wa<4; decided, in view of the tragedy in the morning, to suspend all operation* until Monday. A vote of sympathy with the bereaved families was passed in silence. The funeral of the victims of the Fraser Road tragedy took place at Eltham yesterday, large numbers attending.
