CURIOUS SITUATION.
AN IMMIGRATION RESTRICTION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, Jan. 5. How the new immigration law works out is shown in the curious case of an Englishwoman, Airs. Mary Boyd. With four children she arrived from England to join her husband, a British subject and mining engineer, in Arizona. The authorities permitted her to land, but the children, who had been born in Australia, were unable to land, the Australian quota for the month having been, filled. The American consul in London had given Airs. Boyd assurances that there W’ould be no difficulties. The steamship officials are indignant and refused to permit the family to go to Ellis Island to suffer indignities. An appeal has been sent to Washington.
