MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

QUARTERLY BUSINESS. The number of criminal oases dealt with in the New Plymouth Magistrate’s Court during the quarter ended on December 31, was 113, there being 24 arrests, while 89 persons were brought up on summons. These included six females and two juveniles. Sittings held during the three months totalled 41, of which 32 were presided over by the Magistrate and nine by justices. Fifty-heven cases were heard. Ln civil claims the aggregate amount sued for was £2529 13s 3d, and the sum recovered was £'l2ll 9s sd. There were 26 judgment summonses, eight orders for the payment of debts being made. Ten distress warrants were issued during the period.
