EDUCATION BOARD.

APPOINTMENT OF SECRETARY. Yesterday the Taranaki Education Board decided to appoint Mr. H. W. Insult to the position of secretary, vice Mr. H. J. Thornton, who was recently appointed secretary to the Nelson Board. There were 48 applicants for the position, and the number had been reduced to seven, from which the final selection was made. The new secretary at present holds a position under the board. Mr. Insull was appointed from Hamilton about five years ago to the position of commercial instructor at the Stratford District High School, and later was selected as organising teacher for the Ohura district, in which he has been very successful. Mr. Insull will commence duties on February 1.
