PROBLEMS OF EUROPE.
BRITISH LABOR’S ATTITUDE. RECOMMENDATIONS MADE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Jan. 5, 8.30 p.m. London, Jan. 4. In response to Mr. Lloyd George’s suggestion the Labor leaders have submitted to him at Cannes a memorandum defining Labor’s attitude in regard to European problems, recommending: (1) The temporary suspension of Germany’s reparation payments; (2) the reduction of reparations by the sums the Allies claimed -for war pensions and allowances to widows and dependents; (3) the cancellation of international war debts; (4) the appointment of an international conference to restore normal conditions of production and exchange in Europe, especially in Russia, by means of international loans or credit. The memorandum expresses Labor's conviction that it is within Germany’s power to reconstruct the devastated areas in France and Belgium, and recommends that German labor and materials should play a part in such restoration, if French sentiment permits. —Aus.-N.Z.
