BANTAM CHAMPIONSHIP. CANN BEATS GUNN. There was a good attendance at the Straw ford Town Hall last night, when Charles Conn (of Wanganui! beat Harry Gunn (Timaru). for the bantamweight championship of New Zealand and a purge of £ 100. The fight, which went the full 15 rounds, was one of the best seen in Stratford, anti there was not a great deal to choose between the two men. Both entered the ring at 8.4 H» having to reduce to this weight undoubtedly weakened Gunn, the effect being apparent in the last four or five rounds. The fight was fast and willing from start to fialsk, bst Cann did most of the leading, and was the better man at in-fighting. In the last three or four rounds Gunn was holding a lot. m U r pace had evidently told on him, but . fought gamely to ths final gong. The following four-round amAfenr bouts provided good sport:— Carryer (9.3%) beat E. Dudding (8.11%) on points. Teddy Stewart (Wanganui) 74% beat R. Childs (Stratford) 7.2, on points. Con Coupon (Te Wera) 10.8 beat Joe Millar (Midhirst) 10.2% on points. I. Brooking (Stratford) 7.13% beat Rwjf Dudding (Stratford) 7.10 on points.
