ALCOHOLIC POISONING. MANY CASES IN AMERICA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dee. 30, 11.15 p.m. New York, Dec. 30. The Christmas holidays toll of alcoholic poisoning is beginning to mount up. Nine are dead here, and five more are expected to die, while more than a score are ill in various degrees of poisoning. Among the dead are several women, including one young mother. Ten are dead in Chicago, showing a total of sixty for the year, as compared with twenty for the last non-prohibition year. Pittsburg reports four deaths, while from many New England States, especially manufacturing towns, where the foreign element resides, there are a large number of alcohol poisoning cases.—Aus.-N.Z.
