REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES. NORTH v. SOUTH TARANAKI. Teams representing the North and South Taranaki Cricket Associations will try conclusions at Hawera tomorrow in a’ match to be played at Bayly Park, commencing at 10.30 a.m. This is the first representative match' of the- season in Taranaki, and should prove an interesting one, as in both districts there has been quite keen interest in the sport this season., The teams are as follow: South Taranaki.—Pratt, Beechey (captain), Worrall, Fogarty (Hawera), Cole, C. Little (Eltham), Maunsell,, Haynes, H. Hughes, Judd (Manaia), Penny (Okaiawa); emergencies, Stewart (Eltham), Harrison (Okaiawa). Marsh (Eltham), Mair (Kaponga). North Taranaki. —'Bewley, Bottrill, Gibson, Halley, Lash, Nicoll, Osborne, Papps, Robertson, Clarke, Wilkins. JUNIOR MATCH. A match, between junior representative elevens from the same districts has also been arranged for the same day, and will be played at New Plymouth. The teams are as follow:
South Taranaki.—Hobday, Cosgrove, Guise and Kelly (Manaia), Lay, Davies, Piper, Cotton (Hawera and Tech.), Davies, Phillips, Hemingway, Ansford (Eltham). North Taranaki.—Taylor, Fowler, W. Kettle (Waitara), Bui lot, Berg (Western Park), Kinsella, Trevalla, Oliver (New Plymouth), Cameron, Papps Fitzpatrick (Harbor Board). Emergencies: C. H. Stephenson (New Plymouth), Dickson and Loveridge (Technical), O’Neill (Urenui). r The match will take place on the Western Park ground at 10.30, but the home team must be on the ground at 10 a.m. A practice and working bee will be held on the ground to-day at 2 p.m., when it is hoped that all players available will attend. WELLINGTON v. NELSON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Wellington easily defeated Nelson on the first innings. Nelson batted first and compiled 152 (E. Langbein 57, J. Newman 45, Eden 11). Extras realised 21. MeGirr took two wickets for 14, Henderson four for 25, Patrick two for S. Wellington responded with 376 (Baker 54, Dempster 55, Patrick 44, Burton 50, MeGirr 53, the lattei four retiring). The best bowling was: Langbein two for 34, and Newman two for 59* Nelson’s second innings produced 101 for five wickets (Vercoe retired 27)v SOUTHLAND v. CANTERBURY B. Christchurch, Last Night. The touring Southland team commenced a match against a Canterbury B team to-day. The latter-made 426 (Young 50, Neale 29. Martin 24, Gleeson 4G. Crawford 50, McEwin 68, Gregory 55, Thomas 29, Rix 23). Kavanagh toofc four wickets for 142. When stumps were drawn Southland scored 61 without the loss of a wicket (Kavanagh 34 not out). Wanganui defeated Patea at the latter place on Tuesday, W’anganui scoring 160 (Lomas 42, Woods 28. Thomas 25), and Patea 77 (Harrison and Mercer each 21). Treadwell, Woods and McLennan (Wanganui), and Jlarding, Cunningham arid Nansett (Patea) were the most successful trundlers.
