LONDON DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET. Messrs. A. H. Turnbull and Co. have received the following cablegram from Messrs W. Weddell and Co., Ltd., London, dated December 22 : "Danish butter, 174 s to 176 s (182 s to 186 s) ; New Zealand butter, salted, 140 s to 145 s (150 s to 1565) ; downward tendency. "New Zealand first grade white cheese, 90s to 94s (90s to 98s) ; ditto, colored cheese, 88s to 94s (90s to 965) ; market very quiet. WAIKATO STOCK MARKET. The Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd, report:— At Hamilton on Thursday, December 22, our yarding of all classes was small. Beef was in fair supply’ and sold steadily at values slightly under the previous week. Steers, medium weights made from £6 10s to £7, cows from £3 6s to £4 6s, 3 and 3!£-year store steers made to £3 Ils, small and inferior sorts £2 Is to £2 Ils. Young cattle were poorly represented, yearling heifers selling from 36s to £2 18s. The yarding of sheep was moderate, fats were not as keenly competed for as was the case last week, wethers realised up to 12s, ewes from 8s 8d to 10s 6d, forward lairnbs to 9s, store lambs 5s 54 to (is Gd, smaller sorts 3s 3d to 4s 6d. Pigs were penned in small numbers, no fat buyers were operating, baconers sold from 34s ’o £2, weafiers 9s to 12s. Best dairy cows made from £6 to £ll 15s, others £3 to £4 10s.

£399 17s 6d GIVEN AWAY. The lucky winner of the Wellington Plunket Home Art Union will benefit to the value of £399 17s 6d. That is, for the half-crown spent on the ticket, the dividend will be £4OO worth of alluvial gold specimens, £3OO worth of whieh have been generously donated by Mr. J. R. McKenzie, Wellington. Such a chance will, no doubt, appeal to everybody with the sporting instinct, while many others who have long since come to the conclusion that they have no “luck” at all will willingly put their fortune to the test once more, in the cause of the Plunket Society. A new Home is urgently needed in Wellington, and it is gratifying to know that more, than £3OOO has already been subscribed by the citizens. This sum has enabled the Plunket Society to make the initial payments on a suitable property in Kent Terrace. Money is now wanted to complete the purchase, and for renovation and furnishing, and it is hoped that the Art Union will provide a substantial portion of the sum required. Those who wish to assist the Wellington Plunket Home Appeal can therefore do so by procuring tickets without delay. Tickets can be obtained from J. K. McKenzie, fancy goods dealer, Cuba Street and Willi’s Street, Wellington and all branches throughout New Zealand; from leading retailers, tobacconists and hairdressers; also from the Plunket Rooms, or the hon. secretary, P.O.
