MOPLAH REBELLION.
WHOLESALE SURRENDERS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Delhi, Dec. 23. Two thousand five hundred rebels surrendered at Chembrasseri. Thangal, one of the two principal rebel leaders, surrendered to the Gurkhas, with his chief lieutenant. Two other notorious leaders were captured by Gurkhas in the hills near Mannarghat, while a third, who was playing hide and seek for some, time, surrendered to the police superintendent with twelve followers, ten rifles, ten swords and two hundred rounds' of ammunition. An official communique -states that the position has greatly improved. Though the main gangs arc still in -the h'lta areas, they are dwindling. The difficulty of dislodging them has not diminished, but the authorities are gradually cutting off their food supplies. Surrenders are continuing in all parts, with a larger proportion of arms, but the restoration of public confidence will be slow until all the leaders are captured.-—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
