QUIET IN EGYPT.
TROOPS CONTROL SITUATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dec. 26, 8.15 p.m. Cairo, Dec. 25. Quiet prevails, following the arrival of two British cruisers from Malta and fresh reinforcements of British troops. Government troops are in complete control of the situation in Teizeb, a suburb of Cairo, where five natives were killed and twenty wounded during Christmas Eve fighting. The police in Alexandria broke up a Nationalist demonstration without casualties. ZAGHLUL ARRESTED. Cairo, Dec. 23. Lord Allenby has issued a proclamation prohibiting banks and other institutions, without his permission, advancing money held on behalf of Zaghlul or his co-delegates. As Zaghlul refused to obey the order to retire to his country house he was arrested. Mobs are parading the town and smashing windows. The military have been called out to assist the police.
