WORKS CLOSING.

UNEMPLOYMENT TN SYDNEY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —-Conyrlcbt. Sydney, Dee. 23. Tn connection with the closing down of a number of large engineering works there is a feeling among unionists that employers are taking concerted .action to evade the arbitration awards and cut down wages. Employers deny concerted action in closing down, but claim that high wages, short hours, and the low prices at which iron may be imported from Europe, make it imperative that there should be some readjustment of working conditions in Australia to get the industry back to a more favorable footing.
