SHOP ASSISTANTS’ AWARD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. An Arbitration Court award in the Auckland retail shop assistants’ dispute was filed to-day, the terms being the same as in the recent southern awards, with minor differences to meet local conditions. The award concerns assistants in boot, hardware, crockery, stationery, fancy goods, furniture and soft goods retail shops. LABOR MEMBER OF COUNCIL. Auckland, Last Night. A by-election to fill a vacancy on the City Council caused by the death of the Hon. P. J. Hereheny resulted in the return of Mr. George Davis, the official Labor candidate, the voting being: Davis 1252; E. W. Ind er 1186; E. A. Clark 143.
