COAL MINES IDLE.

TRUCKS WANTED FOR RACES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Work at the Waikato coal mines has been interrupted during the last two days, owing to a shortage of railway trucks. Tho Taupiri miners were idle yseterday afternoon and again this afternoon, while work ceased at Pukemiro at half past two yesterday, and at eleven to-day. The shortage of trucks is mainly due to the usual withdrawal of a large number in order to prepare them for passenger traffic to the Ellerslie races next week.
