The English and Welsh railways have decided to reduce the freight on coal and coke from 100 to 75 per cent, of the increase on the basis of rates in operation in January, 1920. The railways regret that further reductions are impossible until the price of coal falls and railway wages are reduced. AN ARRANGEMENT WITH CHINA. Paris, Dec. 20. Advices from Peking announce that the Government has made an agreement, with the French Minister under which the Boxer indemnity will be used to meet the losses of the Industrial Bank of China. JAPANESE BUSINESS MISSION. London, Dec. 20. A Japanese commercial mission, numbering 40, has arrived for a month’s tour of British industrial centres. They visited the Ministry of Labor where Mr. Wilson, the secretary, addressed them on the British labor movement in relation to the Ministry and also described the permanent organisation for dealing with industrial disputes. Subsequently the mission saw Messrs. Clynes, Thomas and Hodge. PARIS POLICE EQUIPMENT. Paris, Dec. 20. The police prefecture is fitting service cars with adaptable wireless apparatus for any official and also enrolling exarmy pilots for the police air force for the pursuit of bandits, controlling civil airmen and photographing street traffic conditions.
