RIFLE SHOOTING.

CHAMPIONSHIP MEEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association. tVellington, Dec. 21. The New Zealand rifle championship meeting is to be held at Papawai, near Greytown, commencing Thursday, February 23, wnen rhe Ballinger Belt and other D.R.A. cups and shields will bg.. fired for, as would have been the case if the meeting had been held in the ordinary way at Trentham. The first prize in each cnatch will be £lO, and in the King’s Prize £5O. There will be eight matches of £lOO each. The total prize money will be about £l2OO. The meeting will be controlled by a combination of the Dominion Rifle Association and the Wairarapa Association, Colonel Collins being chairman, assisted by Messrs. Marshall and Tellingham, representing the Dominion Association, and Messrs. King and Nix representing Wairarapa. Mr. Webster, of the Wairarapa, has been appointed secretary, assisted by Lieutenant Williamson, of the D.R.A.
