DUNCAN AND MITCHELL IN AMERICA. This pair tad a marvellous record in America. They played 105 rounds against the best professional and amateur golfers, winning 51 matches, losing 17, and tieing in 4. They had 51 rounds with individual scores of 70 or better. Their best ball in all matches averaged 65.6. Duncan’s average was 72.1.7, and he did three scores of 60. Mitchell’s average was 72.19, and he had two scores of 65. They broke the record of eight courses— Edgewater, Yahnundasir, Lake Placid, Brantford (Canada), Winnipeg (Canada), White Bear Club, and Westchester Hills, and tied with the record at innumerable others. George Duncan, who made a tour of America in 1911, said that he noticed a tremendous advance in American golf, both in playing skill and course architecture. He expressed himself amazed at the number of new courses, especially municipal courses.
