THE HOLIDAYS.
VARIOUS ARRANGEMENTS. RAILWAY -SIME-TABLE. In New Plymouth on Christmas “Eve (Saturday) the Wellington Regimental Band will play selections in various parts of Devon Street and on Christmas morning the players will divide into three sections for the purpose of carolling. The collection, will be devoted to the contest fund.
! Arrangements for the visit of the Ponsonby Boys’ Brass Band next week are almost completed. The committee, however, are still in need of a few billets for some of the boys. They arrive on Tuesday evening next by the mail train, and not by the boat as previously arranged. This alteration has been found necessary on account of alterations in the sailings of the Rarawa. Their tour commences on December 26, and they visit all the principal towns en route between New Ply mouth and Palmerston, and thence over to the East Coast as far as Napier, playing at the towns on the Main Trunk on the way home. They leave New Plymouth by the mail train on Thursday morning. Train arrangements for the holidays include the running of special services from Wanganui, Hawera and Kohuratahi in connection with the New Plymouth races on Monday and Tuesday next. On the express routes an extra train will run between Palmerston North and Auckland on December 23 and 24. A relief mail train will be put on from Wellington to New Plymouth on December 24 and from Stratford to Wellington on January 3 and 4. On January 3 and 4 the ordinary down mail train will not take passengers from Hawera, Feilding, and intermediate stations.
