Burns Philp have received advices from Melbourne that as the result of action by the registrar the Mataram dispute has been temporarily settled, and the vessel is sailing to-morrow, ooth parties having agreed to submit the manning question to the manning committee appointed under the Navigation Act. Melbourne, Dec. 19. The general secretary of the Seamen’s Union denies that the union proposes to put- the “job control” policy in operation. He states that the men have been advised to refrain from any action likely tc precipitate trouble.
