CRICKET.
NORTH TARANAKI COMPETITIONS. SATURDAY’S GAMES. The cricket competitions on Saturday resulted in Old Boys defeating Inglewood, and Urenui secured a win over New Plymouth after a closely contested game. In the “B” grade Harbor Board lost to Waltara, and Western Park were defeated by New Plymouth. Urenui did not send a team to meet Old Boys. “A” GRADE. OLD BOYS v. INGLEWOOD. Playing at Inglewood, Old Boys defeated Inglewood by a substantial margin. Their innings produced 207 for nine wickets. Bewley compiled 80 runs, including 3 sixes and 5 fours, and Bottriil (26) and Papps (25 not out) were the next best scorers. Bowling for Inglewood, Coutts took four wickets for 48 runs and Gibson secured three for 42. Inglewood made 99 runs (Pullen 25 and Starkey 20L Eggleton, Bottriil and Papps each secured two wickets. URENUI v. NEW PLYMOUTH. The game between these teams at Urenui resulted in a win for Urenui by* nine runs. New Plymouth made 79 (Quickfall 29 not out). and their opponents compiled 88’, of which 43 were secured by C. Wilson, who played a good innings. Of the Urenui bowlers O’Neill took three wickets for 24 runs, while Clarke and Nicol! (New Plymouth) each secured three wickets for 18 runs. Details of the scoring

B GRADE. HARBOR BOARD v. WAITARA. At Waitara, Harbor Board were defeated by Waitara, who secured a three-point win. Harbor Board made 37, and Waitara replied yvith 107. In a second innings Harbor Board made 36 runs. NEW PLYMOUTH v. WESTERN PARK. The above teams met on the Park ground and after an exciting finish New Plymouth scored a three-point win in the last over before time by two wickets. New Plyunouth made 52 (Kinsella 26) and 52 for eight wickets (Trevalla 21, Hughes 14). Western Park made 41 runs (Wright 13) and 69 (Berg 16 not out). Bowling for New Plymouth, Kinsella took seven wickets for 18 runs. Bowers four for 25, W. Hughes four for 22, Oliver two for 15, Trevalla one for 4, Stephenson one for 4. Western Park bowling was : Bullot six wickets for 31, Rowe four for 13, Harrison two for 31, Berg two for 9, Loveridge one for 13. HEATHCOTE-WILLIAMS SHIELD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston N., Dec. 17. The Heathcote-Williams Shield match was Concluded this morning, and resulted in a win for Palmerston North High School, the holders, by 134 runs.
