IMMIGRANTS COMING.

SOME 3400 IN THREE MONTHS. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) Mr. H. E. Holland (Btiller) mentioned in the House of Representatives a cabled report that some 3400 emigrants were to leave the United Kingdom for New Zealand during the next three months. He asked if there would be employment and housing for them all, and pointed out that some of them would be arriving when winter was close at hand. The Hon. W. Nosworthy replied that the people were all nominated immigrants. They were coming under the same conditions as other immigrants. The number quoted in the cabled report was correct as far as he knew.

Mr. O. Witty (Riccarton) asked if the Government had any assurance that people who had guaranteed employment and accommodation for the new arrivals would stand up to the obligation. Mr. Nosworthy replied that the Government could not guarantee the guarantee of anybody else. The system had been working well, and he would point out that many of the people who were coming to New Zealand were bringing some capital with them. He did not think that any reasonable complaint could be made concerning the class of people entering Njew Zealand under the immigration scheme or against the provision. made by the Government for the care of the new arrivals.
