STRATFORD AGENCY. Advertisements and items of news for publication in'tte Taranaki Daily News should be left at the office of our local representatives, Wilson Bros., Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with them. GENERAL ITEMS. Dec. 12. It was decided at the executive committee meeting of the Stratford A. and P. Association on Saturday to appoint a sub-committee to go into the matter of holding a monster sports carnival during the early autumn. It is reported that it is proposed to hold a meeting on a very large scale, and to include wood-chopping and vsawing competitions, sheep dog trialsf tug-of-war, trotting, athletic, and other events. The sub-committee set up will meet next Wednesday to go into the matter. Two or three parties of Stratford people took advantage of the fine day experienced yesterday to visit the mountain, and at Dawson’s Falls house there were during the day five or six car loads and a lorry load of visitors. There were also visitors from Stratford to the Stratford Mountain House. Though the gound was damp and slippery in places, all who made the trip spent a most enjoyable time. . There is no caretaker at the Stratford House, which is reported to be in a very bad state of repair. It will be a great pity if this house is allowed to fall away to ruins. ' The following team has been selected to represent the Stratford Tennis Club in a match against Sportsdale, at Stratford on Thursday, in the first round of the North Taranaki compete tion: Mrs. Weston and Mr. Radford; Miss Mackay and Mr. Clark; Mrs. Lightband and Mr. Wright; Miss Rigg and Mr. Chadwick. Emergencies: Mrs Lowry, Messrs. L. Reader, Kueh, and R. Curtis. Play is to commence at 2 p.m. sharp. ,
