LIBERAL PARTY.

MR. WILFORD LOSES ANOTHER SUPPORTER. Wellihgton. Dec. 7. The official Liberal Party has lost am other supporter—Mr. J. T. Horn (Wa< katipu). The trouble arose over th< duties on tyire-netting—-British free, intermediate 5 per cent., general 10 pel cent. Mr. Horn would place all netting on the free list, as its use for rabbit control is so vitally important. He. was opposed mainly because the motion involved the admission of German netting without penalty. The division was lost by 44) votes to 16. Mr. Wilford did notjj vote. Subsequently it was rumored that there was trouble in the Liberal Party, over this incident. Mr. Horn stated that’ he had left the Liberals. Questioned, he said: “I have not left the Liberal Party. I have always been a Liberal and always will be a Liberal, but I will have nothing more to do with the present leader of the party.” Mr. Horn said that he felt perfectly justified jn the attitude he was adopting, for the party had turned him down on a matter of vital interest to his district. “I have stuck to the party,” he added, “in anything that was important to the partyi and on the first occasion 1 wanted the backing of the party its leader speaks against me and does not give me hia support, either as leader or with -hia vote. In fairness to my I have done what I consider proper.” .
