QUESTION OF AMENDMENTS. COMMITTEE TO ENQUIRE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the House to-day Mr. Massey gave notice of |his intention to move that a select committee be set up to consider, in the interests of the public, and generally for its more satisfactory working, what amendments are required in the present licensing law, the committee to consist of Mr. A. Harris (Waitemata), the Hon. E. P. Lee, Mr. W. D. Lysnar (Gisborne), Sir John Luke (Wellington North), Mr. R. McCallum (Wairau), Mr. M. J. Savage (Auckland West), Mr. C. E. Statham (Dunedin Central), Mr. G. Witty (Riccarton), Mr. R. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbs) and the mover. Mr. T. M. Wilford (Leader of the Opposition) asked: “What about Mr. Isitt?” Mr. Massey said he had endeavored to avoid selecting men of extreme views. Mr. Isitt (excitedly): “What about Mr. Mcpallum and Mr. Lysnar?” An hon. member: “And Mr. Witty?” Mr. Massey: “Are, they in favor of the trade ?” Mr. Isitt’: “Absolutely, up to the neck.” Mr. Massey: “Very well, an objection can be taken at the proper time.”
