WEST END SCHOOL GALA.
KAWAROA PARK ON SATURDAY. New Plymouth has undoubtedly been lavishly endowed *by nature with many charming and beautiful spots of wlii.li full advantage has been taken by the residents of New Plymouth. Nowhere has this been the case more than' at Kawaroa Park where an energetic committee has assisted nature so that it would be difficult to find a more pleasant resort particularly as a children’s play-ground, set in more picturesque surroundings. A visit to Kawaroa Park is always a pleasure and next Saturday as the occasion of the West End School annual gala day it should provide a spectacle that should not be missed by anyone. This gala for some years past has been looked upon as one of the events of the year and this year promises to surpass all its predecessors. A splendid programme has ibeen arranged including spectacular items by the children. and popular items by the boy scouts, whilst the competitions are too numerous and varied to describe, but all will provide real enjoyment. The walking doll should not be missed on any account. The various stalls will also be replete with toys, Yancy goods, sweets, etc. The fair attendants will be willing and rea-iy to do business. As for the keen interest displayed by the children, parents and committee, a busy day is expected. The Wellington Battalion Band will be in attendance and render a popular programme. The scene indeed should be a very animated one as all the ocean waves, glides, swings, see-saws and other equipment provided for the delectation of the youngsters Will be in full operation. The afternoon tea arrangements will be in the hands of the Kawaroa Park ladies. Indeed, the Kawaroa Park Committee is co-operating with the school committee in their efforts to entertain and has given all their equipment to that end. The spectacular items, etc., will be put on early to enable country visitors to catch the afternoon train.
