IRONSAND SMELTING.
MR. LEGGATT TO RETURN TO NEW PLYMOUTH. In a letter, dated October 18. to the chairman of the New Zealand Iron Ore i Smelting Co.. Mr. P. Scott Leggatt of ■i he firm of Thomas Summerson and I Sons, Ltd., says lie is sorry that certain I members of the Borough < ’noil have ’ the wrong impression that he wishes to 1 control the electrical supply to the preferential advantage of the smelting furnaces and to the disadvanage of the ’ ratepayers in general. Such is not the j case, as he will have much pleasure, in demonstrating when he is next in New I Plymouth. Mr. Leggatt expects to leave England j in the third week oT December and to arrive at Auckland in the first week of February next. He'hopes to ship some of the products of the sand made by the technical staff-of Tho*. Summerson and Sons, Ltd., after they have been displayed at the High Commissioners offices in I London. The tests were quite satis- ! factory, and the only obstacle now is | the uncertainty of continuous electrical | supply at an acceptable rate.
