PUKEKURA PARK.
MEETING OF THE BOARD. A meeting of the Pukekura Park Board was held last night. Present: Messrs. C. E. Bellringer (chairman), H. Dempsey, W. F. Short, A. T. Moore, R. C. Hughes, and P. E. Stainton (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr. H. Ford. Reports were received concerning maintenance work being carried out in the park, and it Was decided to secure the services of another man for cleaning up work during the next few weeks. The chairman intimated that it was becoming a -frequent practice for persons to allow dogs in the park. /This was becoming a nuisance, and also a menace to the ducks. He advocated taking some steps to check the nuisance,* and it was decided to write to the caretaker asking him to impound any dogs found in the park unless they are on a lead. The hours in which bathing will be permitted were fixed at before 8 a.m. and after 5 p.m. on week days and before 9.30 on Sunday mornings. On behalf of the New Plymouth Beautifying Society, Mr. R. C. Hughes wrote thanking the board for a donation of native trees to be planted on Baines Terrace and for placing the services of the caretaker at the disposal of the society for planting out work. It was decided that the board visit the park next week with a view to arcranging for the cutting down of some trees which obscure the view o-f the park from the racecourse. The board passed a vote of thanks to Mrs. Wheeler for a donation of hibiscus, and also carried a resolution expressing appreciation of the serv-wres ot Mr. Hughes in preparing documents in connection with the lease of the tea kiosk.
