SENDING INDECENT LETTERS. , By Telegraph.—Pre’**! AssoclntionHamilton, Last Night. William Williams, laborer, has been sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for sending four indecent letters throiigh the post to Jack Porter and his wife. The letters were sent to Porter's wife alleging that Porter was the father of a child of a certain woman, but inquiries proved that no such woman was .in existence. A receipt was also enclosed acknowledging an alleged payment o-f money for the maintenance of the child. Accused admitted sending two letters. The opinion of experts was that all the letters were in the same handwriting. Evidence was given that the parties had a slight dispute eighteen months ago over wages, but had since been friendly.
