Sir William Allardyce hrs decided to make a trip to England. The announcement is made that he w'.’l not return to Tasmania. The reason for the step is the inadequacy of the official salary to meet the expenses of Government House,, necessitating his drawing considerably on his private means. PROPOSED ABOLITION. Brisbane. Dee. 2. The Treasurer has announced his intention to introduce a Bill to abolish the position of State Governor. He added that people could safely expect the Governorship to be abolished very shortly. (The salarv of the Governor of South Australia is £4OOO. and that of the Tasmanian Governor £2750.)
