THE LEAGUE GAME. AUSTRALASIANS BEAT BARROW. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. Received Dec. 4, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 3. Barrow, attacking keenly, secured a goal within two minutes of the start of play, which throughout was fast and attractive. The Australasians led in the first half by 18 to 10, but Barrow, through excellent, passing and dribbling and good combination kept things more even in the second spell. The final scores were : Australasians six tries and three goals and Barrow three tries and three goals. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE SOCCER GAME. A special meeting of the Taranaki Football Association was held at Stratford on Tuesday evening last, Mr. L. Stevens (Hawera) presiding over delegates from all the Taranaki "soccer” clubs. Preliminary arrangements were made for the Australia v. Taranaki match, which will take place early next season. The association decided to challenge the Auckland Football Association for the Brown Shield. Mr. F. Stevens was appointed delegate to the New Zeal 'iicl Football Association, and Mr. E. H. Pip Hawera) was elected secretary pro tern to the Taranaki Football Association. The election of officers was deferred until the annual meeting in January.
