EMPIRE CHAMPIONSHIP. THE PROPOSAL DISCUSSED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. Received Dec. 4, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 3. Mr. Lucas, in a letter to Sporting Life, is of opinion that a belt for an 'Empire championship is impossible. The belt should be open to a colonial who was resident in Britain three to six months, hut be must drop the title when he leaves the country. This s to prevent the title going astray. The plan worked well in Australia, but to talk of an Empire championship leads to trouble, because it can be fought in any part of the Ei pirc. It must be remembered that champions of England and the colonies without a title of their own could not fight for the Empire championship, and they must not be juggled with.-.
