FITZROY METHODIST BAZAAR.
A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The- Ladies’ Guild of the Fitzroy Methodist Church conducted their annual Christmas bazaar at the church yesterday and last night. The proceeds from this year’s function are to be donated to the Sunday School building fund. The new building consists of an addition to the church to provide extra ami much needed accommodation for the growing Sunday School classes. The addition is now nearing completion and was available for the bazaar yesterdayIn formally declaring the bazaar open for business, the Mayor (Mr. F. E. Wilson) congratulated the Fitzroy residents on the enthusiasm Evinced in matters pertaining to the welfare of the young people. 1 The Rev. W. J. Elliott (superintendent of the circuit) briefly spoke, thanking the Mayor for his attendance. A large and. varied assortment of stalls were provided by the guild workers, and these attracted ready patronage. The following were responsible for the management of tlu? different departments. Produce: Mesdames Hall and Kjbby. Plain stall.: Mesdames Rundle, Coutts, Andrews and Symons. Fancy stall: Mesdames Corney and Giddy. ■Cake stall: Mesdames Holden ana Hollis. Sweets: Misses Mills and AroaAfternoon tea: Mesdames Hall, Markelow, Wickham and Carrick. Doll stall: Misses K. Martin and Holden. Christmas tree: Mrs. McDougall and Miss Andrews. Flower stall: Mrs. Bellringer. In the evening there was another large attendance and an added attraction was Mr. McLeod’s orchestra. The takings total about £9O.
