THE RACING DESCRIBED. GLOAMING STILL CHAMPION. (Notes by "Moturoa.”) (By Wire—Special to News.) / Feilding, Last Night. Ore Ore, with McDonald up, was a hot order in the Hurdles, with Kyoto, Kipling and Royal Exchange also favoured. Pawerewere led Kyoto for a mile. *Kyoto then toot the lead and won pulling up from Kipling, who just beat the favorite for second place. Royal Exchange was fourth, and Athens 11. a bad last. A big field of twenty-five faced the barrier in the Aorangi Plate. Matareka, Solstice and Savory were the best backed. A fair start saw Roman, Volito and Matareka first away. The former never left it in doubt, winning all the way from Matareka, and paying a big dividend. Lady Thurnham was a fair third, just tn front of Zero Hour x and Solstice. Rouen and Affectation were withdrawn frc.ni the big handicap, Kilgour having little more friends than Festivity and Pluto. Egmont Park led Paonui, Matatua and Pluto passing the stand the first time, and along the back the Hawera uorse was four lengths clear of ti c field. Egmont Park led Paonui and Pluto into the straight, but inside tiie distance Paonui assumed command. Egmont Park ca ne again over the last hit, but Paonui just squeezed home. Pluto was a fair third, Matatua fourth, and Bonnetter fifth. Nineteen lined up for the Kowhai handicap, apprentice riders up. The public was puzzled, but eventually selected Zircon, Kall and Equitable as the best of a poor lot. Siberian led Hallowroz and Yolande along the back, but Kail was first into the straight, followed by Valley Rose, the pair fighting out a good finish, with Sunny Jum, Siberian and Earthshine all close up.
Blackmail, Tari. Caricature, Celmisia, Tinihanga and Martian Miss dropped out of the Flying Handicap, leaving fifteen runners. great betting race saw Asterina, Nursing Sister, Amber Tips and Tommy Rot in big demand. Tommy Kot and Mireusonta had the best of a fair start, and led along the back. Amber Tips and Bonny Briar led Into the straight, the former being in front at the distance and winning comfortably from Dainty Step, who came from a long way back. Bonny Briar was a close third, Asterina fourth and Kinsem fifth.
Great interest was aroused when Gloaming and Rational entered the birdcage for the Feilding Stakes. Gloaming looked a trifle round in the barrel, but was bright and well, and pleased by the way he cantered past the stand. Die public made him an odds on favorite. Rational was finely drawn, and after being led to the post sweated a lot during the long delay. Carrying 8.12, including a JU lb. penalty, left him little chance with Gloaming (9.1), who escaped penalties. However, Rational had a good following, some considering Gloaming might not be ready. Rouen
9.3. lola 7.13, Pirouette 6.1, and Wairarapa 6.1 completed the field. Wairarapa broke the tapes twice, galloping three and two furtongs respectively before being pulled up. Pirouette then refused to face the barrier. Wh?n the tapes were lifted Rational, Wairarapa and Gloaming were in line and Rouen next, and lola and Pirouette badly left. Rational, on tlie rails, led with Wairarapa for two furlongs, but entering the straight Gloaming came brilliantly on the outside, took the lead below the distance, and won with ridiculous ease from Rational, who was not ridden out. Rouen was a poor third and Pirouette fourth, with Wairarapa and lola a long way back. Gloaming’s victory was clear cut and flawless, and leaves no room for doubt that he is still champion. Ruruwai and Blissfulness had the pen put through their names in the Fitzroy Handicap,
fourteen going to the post. Celmisia was a hot favorite. Awake, Cochineal and Mixture being the next best backed. Celmisia was quickly in front, and led Warrawee and a strung out field. Warrawee challenged at the distance, but the favorite easily stalled him off and won in faster time than the open six furlong race was run in. Mixture was a fair third, and Demades fourth.
Chrysostom and Anfber Tips were the only withdrawals from the Kiwitea Welter. -Ngata was well supported. American Beauty led Simonides and a bunched field passing the stand. American Beauty, and Passin Through were prominent nearing the straight, where Miss Gold and Ngata came fast. Miss Gold finished stronger than American Beauty and just won. Ngata finished fast a close third, and was unlucky to lose. Rose Wreath was fourth. SECOND DAY'S ACCEPTANCES. Palmerston N., Last Night.
