, SEASIDE SOCIETY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Nov. 30. The adjourned meeting of the above society, for the purpose of reorganisation, was held in the Council Chambers on Monday last. The meeting was well attended. It is satisfactory to know that this valuable asset to the town is going to survive. The sheds are • in immediate danger by encroachment of the sea, and it is the committee’s intention to get to work quickly with protective works. Officers w’ere elected as follows: Patron, the Mayor (Mr. R. Morgan) ; president, Mr. A. W. Ogle; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. Locke, C. R. Stead, A. Keith, E. Georgo, J. Blair, Dr. P. Allison; joint secretaries, Messrs. H. Brabant and Les. Sampson; coinmjitee, Messrs. C. P. Dugdale, E. Jones, E. Huffom, W. Turner, Pascoe, M. Jensen, R. H. Pepperill, Les Sampson, E. Proctor, J. Guinea, Knuckey, R. Butcher, C. Keig, R. St. George, W. Crone, G. McGrath, J. H. Kibby, A. Kibby, Howard, F. Hoskin, Mau, Elliott; ladies’ committee. Mesdames H. Spurdie, Dod, Wilson, F. Brabant, A. Chittenden, with power to add. Membership tickets were fixed at 2s 6d for adults; family tickets, 7s 6d; honorary members, ss. It was resolved to hold a picnic on New Year’s Day, and sub-committees were appointed to carry out the arrangements. Mr. J. Main is to be asked to communicate with his Scottish friends to secure pipe music and dancing for that day. GENERAL. The Tikorangi Public Library Committee have been advised that the usual Government subsidy will not be available this year. It is reported that if sufficient inducement offers the steamer Kennedy will be put on the Waitara run. At the next meeting of the Chamber of Commerce the matter will be taken up. Mr. F. Hoskin (North Ward member of the Taranaki Education Board) has received word from Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., that the matter of remodelling the Waitara School has been placed before Cabinet. PERSONAL. The local manager of the Bank of New Zealand (Mr. A. H. Hawkins) has been granted two months’ leave of absence. He is being relieved by Mr. Leys, of the Matamata branch. Mr. A. Murray, of the local railway staff, has been transferred to Marton. Mr. A. Weir is making a satisfactory recovery from the wounds received from his bull. Mr. L. Faull, Tikorangi, who has been an inmate at the New Plymouth Hospital has gone to the Mountain House to recuperate his strength. Mr. E. H. Linuner has taken up the duties of postal officer at Brixton, in place of Miss Wells, who asked to be relieved of her official duties in order to have a holiday.
