PREFERENCE TO NEW ZEALAND. ’ By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 29. Mr. G. H. Turton, of the Royal Insurance Company, Melbourne, in a letter to Mr. H. Beauchamp, Wellington, encloses an extract froni a letter to 'hlrni by the Commonwealth Controller of Customs, intimating that the Australian, tariff makes provision for a British preferential rate exit ended to products from New Zealand, thus giving to that coun try the very best possible conditions obtainable in the tariff. Pending the passing of the Australian tariff into law it is incumbent on the Com mon weal tlh customs to charge New Zealand under, the general tariff, but this is temporary.
