Considerable rain fell at Feilding on Friday night and Saturday, but the course is in fine order for Wednesday’s racing, and, judging by tlie splendid acceptances received, racing should be first class. The Awakino Beach races promise an interesting sporting outing to-day. Those who have been fortunate enough to attend the little country gatherings speak highly of the hospitality of the good fellows who run them, and the writer wishes Mr. Lake (honorary secretary) and his confreres a very enjoyable and successful day’s sport, and regrets that he cannot attend (he gathering. At all events “Moturoa" would treat his Awakino friends more kindly than the persons responsible for the races at Raupo Flat! That guinea prize offered for the best Taranaki sporting paragraph promises to produce a hot contest. Already there is a rusty, rasping noise noticeable in the brain boxes of hosts of cheery “sports,” and when they put their thoughts down in black and white something great will ■ assail readers of the forthcoming News Christmas Number. Entries close on Wednesday, November 30, so get busy ! Taranaki ent.its close on Friday next, at 9 p.m. The full programme will be found in this issue.
