THE PRINCE IN INDIA.
PEOPLE’S LOYAL AFFECTION. IMMENSE POPULARITY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received Nov. 25, 7J p.m. London, Nov. 24. The Government of Bombay has cabled to Mr. E. S. Montagu (Secretary for India) describing the enthusiastic reception accorded the Prince of Wales throughout his stay. Two hundred thousand people attended his arrival. The chair the Prince used at the Poona ceremony was the object of special veneration, the crowd pouring in throughout the afternoon to do reverence thereto, while the carpet on which the Prince stood was later torn into shreds as relics of the visit. The enthusiasm at the racecourse was unsurpassable. Even those doubting the warmth of the reception awaiting the Prince were astounded at the wealth of loyal affection every day demonstrated and the immense popularity of the Prince.
