THE P. AND T. SERVICE.

THE DROP IN REVENUE. REMEDIES SUGGESTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association to-night passed the. following resolution:- —-“That owing to the loss of revenue of about £50,000 annually in the P. and T. we urge that the restrictions on telegrams relating to horse-racing be removed; that telegraph offices be re-estab-lished on racecourses; that newspapers be given freedom in reporting results; further, that in view of the large sums leaving New Zealand for foreign lotteries the association favors the Government running a lottery for the benefit of the State.” As regards salaries a protest was made against a reduction, and a resolution was passed supporting the executive in any action it may take, and in order that united action may be taken the executive be requested to confer with other branches of the public service; also that all officers reduced or dismissed under the retrenchment scheme be granted the right of inquiry under section 7 of the P. and T. Act.
