REPARATIONS.
CAN GERMANY PAY ? SERIOUS FINANCIAL CONDITIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Popyrigtt. Received Nov. 21, 7.25 p.m. Berlin, Nov. 20. Sir John Bradbury, interviewed regarding reparation payments, said Germany’s problem is to raise the necessary credits for the January and February payments, amounting to £40,000,000. The country is economically sound, but it cannot remain so unless the financial position is improved and stabilised, which is impossible so long as new marks are issued and internal shortterm borrowing continues. The present policy resulting from the depreciation of the mark makes reparation payments difficult, and, if persisted in, it will be impossible to make payments abroad for food and raw material. It is useless for Germany to ask for reparation concessions until these errors are remedied.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
