AVRO IN TROUBLE.
FORCED TO LAND ON BEACH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 21. One Avro machine arrived from Blenheim safely but the other came to grief. Engine trouble developed and in the face of a fierce northerly wind the pilot, Mr. Park, had an unenviable task. H e mani aged to make a landing on the gravelly beach near Red Rocks, about four miles from Island Bay, towards Terawhiti, and thw required no little skill, for al! the coast there is rough'-qind rocky and presents very few chances for an aeroplane. No sooner had he landed than a gust of wind hurled the machine into the water where it wa-s damaged by the high sea which was running. Assistance came from the city and with some difficulty the plane was dismantled so that it can be brought in for repairs which will take a fortnight.
