ENGLISH WOOL SALES. By Telegraph—Press Association. London, Nov, 17. At the B.A.W.R.A. wool sales at Liverpool fine merinos were on a parity with the last Hull average. Faulty lots were about 5 per cent, cheaper. Some were withdrawn. Crossbreds "were in good demand. The Bradford sales were quiet, with little new business, but feeling is somewhat better. Quotations: February 64’s, 44d; 46’s, 14d. LONDON MARKETS. London, Nov. 18. Wheat dull and lower on American and Argentine cables. Australian cargoes, DecemberFebruary, are quoted at 49s 6d; parcels 495; quiet trade; spot Australian, ex quay, 52s 6d. Flour.—Very slow. Australian, ex store, 43s 6d. Oats.—Firm. New Zealand landed, 34s and 355. Beans. —Steady and unchanged. Peas.—Slow. New Zealand blues, 400 s to 4605. Sugar.—Unchanged. Eight thousand five hundred tons Australian wheat for Italy sold at 49s 3d, 3000 tons new crop, December delivery, for India at 48 6d, and 7000 tons January shipment for India at 46s 3d. THE WESTRALIAN LOAN. London, Nov. 18. The underwriters receive 68 per cent, of the West Australian loan. Received Nov. 19, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. IS. The West Australian loan is quoted at 15s discount. BERLIN EXCHANGE RATE. Received Nov. 19, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 18. The Berlin exchange rate is 1097 marks to the pound. WAIKATO MARKET. The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:— At Hamilton on Thursday, November 17, the yarding of sheep and cattle was small in comparison with recent sales, but pigs were again in good supply. Values in all classes were again easier, although most of the yarding was cleared. Fat steers (best) made to £7 Bs, plain quality £4 19s to £5 17s, fat cows up to £8 2s 6d for heavy weights, lighter sorts £3 10s to £5 16s. Practically no grown steers were yarded. A few 3-year realised £3 6s. Empty cows were scarce, more popular
making from £ 1 to £ 1 7s. Empty heifers have suffered more in the present reverse than any other class of cattle, and although the bulk of the entry was sold competition was very weak. Best two-year-olds made £3 12s 6d to £1 17s, rough quality £2 to £3 9s, yearlings £2 10s to £3 10s, small £1 15s to £2 ss. No fat sheep were penned. Woolly hoggets in forward condition made Ils 6d. Fat pigs, which were in strong supply, were easier in value, but young pigs met with good competition. Baconers made to £3 10s, porkers £2 5s to £2 15s, slips £1 5s to £1 12s 6d, weaners 7s to 18s.
