v AUCKLAND SENTENCES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 19. In the Supreme Court, Henry James Hansen, for forgery and uttering in connection with two libellous letters reflecting on the character of two Syrians, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. Geotge Cooper Jackson, who received butter stolen from the Niagara, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment; George Caffrey,, for escaping from custody, 12 months; John Patrick Donovan, indecent assault on a male, five years. Three l«d.s of 16, named. James Elliott, Edgar John Gilbert and Gregory Eric Onion, appeared for sentence for thefts of postal packets at Taumarunui. .The judge said they appeared to have started out on a course of systematic plundering. It was impossible to gauge the misery which might be caused by tampering with postal packets. Elliott was sentenced to two years’ reformative treatment and the. others to one year each.
