ATHLETIC CLUB FORMED.

A meeting of citizens interested in the revival of the Inglewood Athletic Club was held on Tuesday night, when there was a gathering of twenty-four. Mr. J. Sutherland was voted to the chair, and Mr. 1. Chapman kindly consented to act as secretary for the time being. It was unanimously decided to revive the Athletic Club, formerly one of the strongest in Taranaki, and to hold a meeting during the 1921-22 season. In pursuance of this object Mr. J. Sutherland was elected president, and Messrs. J. Allan, F. Brown, L. Cutfield, W. H. Eagar, R. C. Esse, A. B. Gamlin, E. Gibbs, C. Hamerton, E. Heel, A. Kenrick, E. Maetzig, Dr. McAlluni, P. G. Nops, Dr. Nutting, C. O’Carrol, F. Partridge, R. Painter, E. H. Saunders, W. J. Smith, F. Spurdie, G. H. Taylor, J. Thomas and H. J. M. Thomson vice-presidents. It was decided that seven members should constitute the management committee, viz.: Messrs. A. Codd, W. H. Eagar, A. Foster, G. Gudgeon, G. Henwood, S. Howell, and W. H. Stephens. Messrs. J. Allen, S. Allan, A. Codd, R. Foster, G. Gudgeon, C. Hamerton, G. Henwood, F. Julian, A. Lealand, R. Lett, W. Rees, W. H. Stephens, J. Sutherland and M. Sutherland were appointed sports committee; Messrs. F. Brown, A. Kenrick and C. Q’Carrol judges; F. Spurdie and S. Howell starters; W. H. Eagar, S. Howell and G. H. Taylor protest committee; A. Foster and W. Langman clerks of the course. The appointment of handicappers was left to the management committee. Messrs. Geddes, Maetzig and Thompson were appointed timekeepers, and Mr. W. H. Stephens secretary and treasurer, with Mr. W. Messenger auditor. It was decided to register the club with the New Zealand Athletic Association. It was further decided to hold a sports nieeting on the first Thursday in March,' 1922. The management committee meet on November 21. Members’ fees will be 5s per annum, to include wife, daughter or sister. The management committee will inspect the ground during the current, week, and report as to the work needed to make the ground thoroughly fit for holding a first-class meeting. PERSONAL. A wireless message has been received in Inglewood from our worthy and popular fellow townsman, Mr. J. W. Winfield, who ‘ has been on a visit, to the Old Country and is returning on board the s.s. Tahiti. He wires that he hopes to reach Wellington by Monday next.
