HYDRO-ELECTRIC WORKS.
THE OPUNAKE DISTRICT. LOAN OF £70,000 APPROVED. .A proposal by the Opunake Electric Power Board to borrow £70,000 by wav of special loan for hydro-electric works, was placed before ratepayers on Wednesday, and the ’’poll resulted in a big majority in favor of the loan. The number who voted about. 200. out of a total of 500 eligible, anti 170 votes were cast in favor of the loan and 20 *■ against it. The board propose to develop the works, which have already been commenced by the Opunake Town Board. Details of the voting are as follows:
