CHARGE AGAINST CHEMIST.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The case in which J. R. Hayne, a chemist, of Dunedin, is charged with the illegal use of an instrument on Violet Ada Atkins. of Timaru (married and living apart from her husband), and as the result of which she died, was continued to-day. The inquest was concluded and the depositions of this inquiry will be accepted for the .police prosecution on the criminal charges. Hayne was committed. for trial at the Supreme Court at Dunedin in February next. Bail of £lOOO was allowed and sureties of £lOOO on conditions including that Hayne reports to the police every day. The coroner, Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., found from the evidence of two doctors and deceased’s brother that the woman died of blood poisoning, as a result of an illegal operation performed on her by Havnes.
