ANOTHER LOSS SHOWN. THE LATEST FIGURES. COSTS ABSORB REVENUE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The railway .working account showing the revenue and expenditure for the period April 1 to October 15, is published in the Gazette. The revenue totalled £3,479,009, compared with £3,399ff4-5 for the corresponding period last year, an increase of £79,864- The expenditure was £3,534,987, compared with £2,864,099. Details of the return are as follows, last year’s figures being given in parentheses;— Revenue. Expenditure. North Island .. 2,085,295 1,967,5ftd (2,101,976) (1,577,166) South Island .. 1,393,713 1,567,421 (1,397,178) (11,286,933) Grand Totals .. 3,479,009 3,534,987 (3,399,145) (2,864,099) The grand totals show that the revenue for the six* monthly period, though larger than last year, ha; fallen short of the expenditure by £55,978, while at the same period last year there was a profit of £535,14*1.
