Messrs. J. S. Connett and C. H. Wynyard, who have been representing Taranaki at the annual conference of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, returned to New Plymouth by the mail train last night. Miss Cant, of New Plymouth, who recently underwent a severe operation, is making a splendid recovery and hopes to be about again in a few weeks’ time. The ex-Emperor Karl and ex-Em-press Zita have arrived at Gibraltar, en route to Madeira, their new place of residence. Mr. T. G. Glasgow has been elected to represent the traffic and stores branch, North Island, on the Railway Board of Appeal. The South. Island representative of the locomotive running branch is Mr. Andrew Torrance. Mr. Arthur H. Vile has been appointed editor of the Manawatu Daily Times in succession to Mr. Pierce C. Freeth, who has retired from the position of editor-manager. Mr. W. P. Black, who has been acting as honorary general organiser of the National Progressive and Moderate Labor Party, has resigned, as his business engagements prevented him giving the necessary time to the'work of organisation.—Press Assn. Mr. V. H. Beal was re-elected president of the Kawaroa Park Society at the annual meeting last night. Complimentary references were made to the good work done by Mr. Beal for the park during his seven years of office. In reply, he paid a tribute to the support of the committees, and remarked that he would like to see more of the young people taking an interest in the affairs of the society. Mr. J. H. Hamilton, supervisor on the staff of the New Plymouth post office, has received notice of his transfer to Wanganui. At the annual meeting of the Kawaroa Park Society last night regret was expressed that the society would be losing the services of Mr. Hamilton in the capacity of secretary, an office which he had very capably filled, doing splendid work in connection with the various functions conducted annually. The hope was expressed that Hamilton’s transfer would lead to still further promotion.
