EX-NUN’S ABDUCTION.
POLICE TAKING NO ACTION By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney,' Nov. 16. The counsel for Miss Partridge (Sister Ligouri) has received a letter from the Inspector-General of Police, stating that signed statements have been obtained from all the available witnesses in connection with the recent occurrences. The offence disclosed in these statements is considered to be one of riot. As the occurrences took place several weeks ago the evidence of identification, excepting against Joseph Partridge, is not at present of a conclusive character.
It is not intended to institute police proceedings. This decision is also guided bv the manifest reluctance of Miss Partridge to give evidence against her brother. The letter adds: “It is competent for any of the aggrieved parties to institute independent proceedings on their own account.” A VOTE OF CENSURE. SURPRISE IN PARLIAMENT. Received Nov. 16, 9.40 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 16. Joseph Partridge has sailed for England. In the Assembly Mr. Fuller took the Government by surprise by giving notice of motion of censure in connection with the recent Ligouri happenings. The motion reads: “That the failure of the Government to bring to justice the persons involved in the assault on Miss Partridge and her subsequent abduction constitutes a flagrant violation of trust, deserving censure." The House immediately adjourned.
