MAGISTRATE’S COURT. YESTERDAY’S SITTING. Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., presided at a sitting of the Hawera Magistrate’s Court yesterday. BY-LAW CASES. A. G. Robertson, on a charge of driving a motor-car with an obscured number, was fined 10s and 7s costs. T. Harris, on a charge of driving a motor-car having no tail light, was fined 5s and 7s costs. CIVIL CASES. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following cases: —A. H. Shaw v. Joseph Green, £4 and £1 3s 6d costs; F. A. de Chateau v. J. Hodge, £ll 12s (£2 13s costs); Farmers’ Coop. v. H. Gilmore and R. G. Grogan, £25 0s 6d (£3 14s costs); State Advances Superintendent v. C. H. Blackwell) £2B 10s (£1 10s costs); Joseph Best v. Henry Miller, £55 15s ( £4 13s 6d costs); Hawera Sash and Door Co. v. M. T. Rogers, £9 15s 6d (£ 1 12s 6d costs); J. W. Turnbull v. A. R. Cronin, £52 10s 3d ( £4 Ils 6d costs). Orders were made in the following judgment summons cases:—J. M. Phillips v. J. G. Phillips £24 16s, to be paid forthwith, in default 21 days’ imprisonment; C. E. Brooke v. J. Heal £22 Ils 4d, to be paid forthwith, in default 21 days’ imprisonment; C. M. Hamlin v. Wi Tamaiti £l5 5s 6d, to be paid within one month, in default 21 days’ imprisonment; D. Hurley v. H. L. Martini £24 13s 6d, to be paid forthwith, in default 24 days’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended for one month.
