THE WOOL MARKET.
WELLINGTON SALES POSTPONED DIFFICULTY OVER PAYMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association". Wellington, Last Night. The first Wellington wool sales of the season, set down for Thursday, have been indefinitely postponed, owing to a difficulty having arisen over what is known in the trade as extended prompt (payment within fourteen" days of sale). The buyers intimated that they could not proceed unless an extension of an additional seven or fourteen days was agreed to, but the brokers could not see their way to agree, and a deadlock ensued. w Subsequently a meeting was held and the matter was briefly discussed. In the interests of the producers the brokers said they could not agree to an extension. The Act laid down fourteen days’ limit for payment. It was stated that the shipping companies are doing all possible to meet the position, but the collection of wool at so many porta causes delay.
